Breaking news: Ron Paul has mad cash!

6 July, 2007 (14:58) | Ron Paul | By: Darren

Okay, it’s all relative…BUT–he’s number 3 among the GOP candidates in cash on hand!

Ron Paul Tops McCain in Cash on Hand

This is outstanding news! Paul should now garner some serious attention–not only from the media and the voters, but from larger donors as well. This should be a big boost for his momentum.

Wow, that is great news…. maybe he will pick up McCain supporters? Is it possible?

Not likely…McCain is too far ideologically from Paul for any serious McCain donors to start donating to Paul just because of this announcement. But he may attract the interest of donors who hadn’t made up their minds.

that is a paltry sum. Yes, it’s third, but mcCain came out for the immigration bill, and supports Bush’s stance on the war, and still raised as much as Ron Paul, he just doesn’t have as much on hand. It’s a bad number. enough for 5 nationwide TV commercials

Like I said, it’s all relative. And the point isn’t that it will allow him to compete ad for ad with Rudy and Mitt, but that it brings a good deal of attention and credibility to the campaign (again, relatively speaking). Paul has shown he’s able to do much more to mobilize and inspire people with far less cash than the others. For his kind of grassroots campaign, I think $2.5M is a pretty good chunk of change.

nothing is relative. Name the last president who was elected even though he received 80% fewer donations than his competitors? Exactly. It’s not right, it’s not fair, but that number was an unmitigated disaster, no matter how its slanted
